FRESCO
"FRESCO" is a visual and spiritual journey, an exploration of the past and present, a bridge between tradition and innovation. The idea behind the "FRESCO" project originated during my years spent on Byzantine painting sites, where each wall seemed to clothe an ancestral story. Amidst this rich heritage, I felt a growing thirst for exploration and expression of new ideas; I needed something to embrace tradition in the guise of innovative reinterpretation, casting old themes in a contemporary light.
I reinterpreted portraits, scenes, and figures from the Byzantine painting through abstract gestures and forms, capturing the spiritual essence and profound symbolism of that historical period. "FRESCO" is the result of this bold quest, a bridge between past and present, tradition and innovation. The works blend the old techniques and the reverence for cultural heritage with the exploration of abstract gesturalism and new modes of expression.
"FRESCO" is not only a collection of artworks, but a journey into the depths of time and human creativity. It manifests my desire to continue bringing the richness and depth of the ancient art into the contemporary world, while offering a fresh perspective on our shared past. Moreover, "FRESCO" does not define itself as traditional icons but as contemporary expressions in the fresco technique. They are more than mere artistic representations; they are a reflection of the dialogue between past and present, tradition and innovation.
Each fresco depicts not only portraits and scenes from the Byzantine painting, but also a personal and modern interpretation of these motifs. Through abstract gestures and contemporary techniques, I strive to illuminate the essence and profound meaning of the Byzantine themes in a fresh and provocative way.
Thus, "FRESCO" is more than a simple art exhibition. It is a challenge to the viewer to look beyond the traditional aspect of fresco painting and discover connections between past and present in a new and captivating way. It is an exploration of the unlimited potential of the fresco technique in the context of contemporary art.
